Aaron Barr
About Aaron: Aaron Barr has lived in Greenville for 15 years, after relocating from Virginia to work for General Electric’s wind energy division. He currently works remotely for Wood Mackenzie as the global lead of wind energy market research. Aaron and his family restored a 120-year old home in downtown Greenville and use their bikes daily to commute to school, work, shop and exercise. For over 20 years, Aaron has been volunteering with non-profit, academic and government organizations that are focused on environmental sustainability and active transportation. Aaron holds a bachelors in Engineering from Virginia Tech and an MBA from UNC-Chapel Hill.
Favorite Greenway or Trail: The portion of the Swamp Rabbit Trail that goes through the Conestee Nature Preserve is where both of my kids learned to ride bikes. This portion of the trail is also not too crowded, as it is not well-connected to the rest of the SRT system – but this is something I’m hoping UGATA can help change!
Why I Support UGATA: Trails and greenways are a critical element that make the Upstate one of the best places to live in the country. As the Upstate continues to grow and develop, we will quickly miss the opportunity to add more trails if we don’t act now. UGATA has established an effective and efficient model to work alongside local governments and developers to improve connectivity across our region.
