TR Greenway

Status: In Progress

UGATA is working closely with the City of Travelers Rest and Greenville County to create a Greenway Connector from Travelers Rest High School to the George I. Theisen Family YMCA. This connection will not only add 2.1 miles of high quality Greenways to the Greenways network but will provide a safe walking path for Travelers Rest’s high school students to access the high quality facilities of the YMCA. UGATA is devoted to help make the Swamp Rabbit better integrated into our communities and this project is a strong step toward achieving that goal.

This Greenway embodies the way UGATA aims to serve the community.  By working together with a host of partners including YMCA of Greenville, School District of Greenville Country, City of Travelers Rest, Greenville County, Arbor Engineering, and local landowners UGATA has completed much of the ground work necessary to make this dream a reality.  Together, we have obtained and recorded easements necessary to build the trail, engaged trail engineers to create cost estimate documents and initial designs, and presented to numerous elected officials about the project in order to build consensus and enthusiasm for the project.  Now, we’re at the last big step:  funding.  We’ve applied for several grants and are also working on local and state monies.  Stayed tuned for updates and hopefully to see some dirt being moved in the not too distant future.
