UGATA assisted our partner the City of Greenville in bringing the Swamp Rabbit Trail in the city limits into compliance with best practices under the Federal Highway Administration. The FHWA cautions trail builders from over use of bollards wherever possible. Unnecessary bollards create a safety hazard as they become an obstacle to riders. Additionally, bollards can make trails inaccessible to some varieties of bikes, specifically adult tricycles which are commonly used by people with disabilities. No longer having these obstacles will allow equitable access for all users!
